Halloween Prep

The weekend before Halloween Tatum got really sick. He missed 3 days of school, had 2 doctors apts, missed our ward Halloween party and the primary program. I felt so bad for the kid that I tried so hard to make sure that he had a fun Halloween.

Eric has been so busy with work lately that we didn't get the chance to carve pumpkins. So when Tatum got home from school I tackled the pumpkin carving on my own. Tatum wanted a scary tree for his pumpkin and drew out something similar to this.

I attempted elmo for Trey's pumpkin and think it turned out alright.

Tatum wouldn't touch the pumpkin guts or help out in any manner, and since my boys are complete opposites, Trey couldn't get enough of the pumpkin!

The final product.

I love making cute treats for Halloween. Another day after school I made sugar cookies with the kids. I had Elan's kids over and the boys loved to decorate the cookies.

This year I made these chocolate covered oreos and planned to take them to our ward Halloween party... that we didn't go to.

I ended up taking some to my beehive class and ate the rest ;) After all of this we were finally ready for the big day (which will be another post)!

Fall Day with Grandpa

A few Saturdays ago we planned a fun day with Grandpa. We went to the pumpkin patch and then to Gardner Village to see the witches.

[Pumpkin Point]

Hunter riding the tractor...

Kai...

Tatum...

Trey...

All the boys. I love Tatum's pose in this picture...so GQ!

Silly boys...

Trey loved picking up pumpkins and taking them to the wheel barrow. He did it over and over again.

Satch's pumpkin...

Tatum's pumpkin...

We tried to get a picture of Grandpa with the boys. None of them would look at the camera so we had to throw corn at them to get their attention.

 Good enough...

Tatum was mad that we threw corn at him.

The kids had a blast running through the corn maze.

[Gardner Village]

I love Gardner Village! Its so fun to go see the witches at Halloween but its not fun to mistakenly go on Witches Night Out! It was so packed and crowded with witches that we only stayed long enough to look around and eat some doughnuts. The kids still loved it and thats all that matters :)

Tatum looks pretty bored.

Everyone eating cotton candy.

The outhouse witch was all of our favorites.

We had so much fun with Grandpa but it wore us all out. We went home and everyone took a nap!

Date to Sundance

The other we had such nice weather and knew that it would be one of the last warm days for a while. So Eric decided to take the day off and take me on a motorcycle ride to Sundance. We live right next to American Fork Canyon and wanted to ride through the canyon to Sundance to see all of the beautiful leaves. It was so much fun! The leaves were so bright and colorful and the weather was just perfect!

We got up to Sundance and since we have season passes we decided to ride the ski lift to the top to see the views. There are trails all over the mountain, and in the Summer people ride the lift and cycle down the hill.  It looks like a lot of fun, maybe next year I will be brave enough to try it!

The ride down was a bit scary because this part is extremely steep...

After we rode the lift we had to hurry home before it got dark. On our way we found some other motorcyclist and it was fun to ride with them. I took this picture from my phone, good thing we weren't going very fast :)

It was such a fun spontaneous date and I'm so glad that we finally did it. I love taking advantage of the wonderful resources around us.

Surfing in Utah??

Who says Utah doesn't have everything?? I always thought the one thing you can't do in Utah is surfing, but I was just proven wrong! A few Saturdays ago we got to go surfing on Utah Lake and it was so much fun! Wake Surfing behind a boat is similar to Wake boarding except you aren't strapped in at all, which makes it kind of tricky to get up. But once you are up it is super easy and you feel like you are floating. Once you are good enough you can let go of the rope and continue to surf the wake.

Here is a short video of Eric surfing. Its really cool beacuse you are so close to the back of the boat that everyone can talk to you as you are surfing.

Here are a few pics from the day. I tried it for the first time and was so proud when I finally got the hang of it!

Dont mind the gross green water...thats Utah Lake for you!
