[..6 weeks old..]

Today my baby is 6 weeks old! Its crazy how fast new babies grow. The other day my neighbor brought her postage scale over and we weighed Trey. He is a whopping 9 lbs 2ozs!! I couldn't believe it! I am so used to Tatum who I swear took 4 months before he reached 9 lbs. But really I shouldn't be all that surprised since so far these two are complete opposites. Here is how opposite they are...
- Tatum was and still is a great sleeper, Trey is still learning.
- Trey is a great eater and could eat all day long, Tatum could go all day without eating and be fine!
- Tatum has blonde hair and Trey is still holding on to his dark brunette locks (and hopefully keeps them).
- Tatum is a Daddy's boy, Trey is a Mommas boy.
- Trey loves to get his diaper changed, Tatum would scream every time.
- Tatum hated his car seat, Trey loves it and will sleep for hours in it.
Its so crazy how I can already see so many differences. I can't wait to see Trey grow and see his little personality start to show.
BTW: isn't this kid just beautiful? Maybe I am just partial but I really think he is perfect!

[..The Tetons..]
..The Tetons..
Our view from the cabin...pretty amazing!

Tatum collected a whole $1.44 from the penny hunt

Trey and Grandpa napping
Tatum launching water balloons

..Bear Lake..
After the Tetons we stayed the night in Bear Lake. We enjoyed some famous raspberry shakes and wave running on the lake.

This is what Trey did the whole time...we were so worried that he got sunburned in the Tetons that we didn't want him in the sun at all.
Tatum could not get enough of the wave runner
Eric let Tatum drive and he said that Tatum had no restrictions when it came to speed. Tatum pushed the throttle as hard as he could!
Our little water bug
Sometimes its I.M.P.O.S.S.I.B.L.E. to get Tatum to look at the camera!
I am really glad that we were able to go on this trip. Everyone thought I was crazy going with a newborn, but it really wasn't that bad and turned out to be a lot of fun!Thursday, July 22, 2010

[..the BEST night EVER..]
Sir Paul McCartney himself!!!
For Eric's Birthday he got tickets to go to the Paul McCartney Concert. I was a little hesitant to go because it meant leaving my week old baby, but I knew this was a once in a lifetime opportunity! Eric has always said that if there was 1 person in the world he could ever meet it would be Paul McCartney! He is Eric's idol. He influenced Eric's life in so many ways and really revolutionized rock and roll. This night meant so much to Eric and really was the best night ever! Eric said that this was the closest thing to a Beatles concert that he could possibly get to in his life time.

Our seats were almost as far away as you could get, but at $60 a pop this was as good as it was gonna get! Really it didnt matter how far away we were, Eric was so giddy just being in the same vacinity as Paul.

Fireworks during "Live and Let Die". Pretty much the coolest thing EVER!!
This night was so amazing and it was worth every penny just to see the look on Eric's face the whole night. He danced and sang along to every song. I don't think that he will ever forget this night!

{..the details..}

..SOME BACKGROUND INFO..
I guess it all started about a week before Trey was born. At my 38 week Doctors appointment I found out I was dilated to a 3 and was 80% effaced. She pretty much told me that I could have this baby any day now. I totally got my hopes up and went home and cleaned my house from top to bottom, packed my bags and installed the carseat! For the next 3 days I had contractions off and on and really thought that he was coming a few times. The Monday before he was born I started to have contractions in the middle of the night. I held off waking Eric up until I thought this was it. After 3 hours of strong contractions 5 min apart, I decided we should go in. At 4 am we arrived at the hospital where they told me I was a 4 and 90% effaced. I thought for sure he was coming today. Well I was wrong! After 2 hours of observation with no progress, they sent me home with 2 percocet.
The rest of the week was probably the most uncomfortable of my life! I had so much abdominal pain and contractions that I could hardly walk. Friday came around and I had another Doctors appointment. She said that I was still a 4 and 90% effaced. I wanted to cry! I was seriously hoping that she would tell me that I needed to head over to the hospital to have this baby. Well instead she stripped my membranes and told me she would for sure be seeing me this weekend! After my appointment I went home and was in so much pain that all I could do was lay in bed. Eric took Tatum for the day so that I could rest, which was perfect because I couldn't take care of myself and Tatum that day.

Everything went so perfectly. There was no infection at all and Trey was prefect in every way. This whole experience was so different from Tatum's but I really wouldn't change any part of it. Tatum's C-Section was easy but doesn't even compare to a V-Bac. Within a day or 2 I felt almost back to normal. I loved the anticipation of labor and the empowerment that came from pushing Trey out. I really am so blessed to have wonderful children and easy recoveries.

Well I survived my first week. The adjustment hasn't been bad at all. Tatum really has reacted so well to Trey. I think the fact that he is older and was well prepared helped out a lot. He loves this baby! Everyday he wants to hold him and showers him with kisses. Its so sweet.

Trey has been a very good baby. I was so nervous to have a newborn again, but he really has made it easy on me. We had a few rough nights at first but I have been able to get him on a schedule and he has done so much better. I just love this kid and could not be more happy with my little family of 4!
